Why Is There Blood In My Poultry Poop

Detecting blood in poultry droppings can be a cause for concern among poultry farmers.

Generally, healthy droppings showcase a specific appearance, which is brown faeces with a fluffy white cap. Being able to score your birds droppings matters.
Anything apart from this norm, especially the presence of blood in droppings, needs urgent attention, and this condition is known as Coccidiosis .

Coccidiosis is one of the most common and costly diseases in poultry.
Usually, coccidiosis usually prevents as mixed infections, such as complications with bacteria, thus causing general or specific Enteritis (inflammation of the intestinal walls, which worsens the irritations, pain and may cause death).
The consequences of a coccidiosis outbreak can be devastating for poultry farmers. It leads to reduced productivity (due to the destruction of intestinal wall integrity, thereby reducing nutrient uptake), increased mortality, and the potential for long-term damage to the flock's health, making it hard to implement strong preventive measures.

Coccidiosis in poultry is caused by several different species of coccidia, which are single celled parasites that live in and damage different parts of the gut wall of their host resulting in nutrient malabsorption, dehydration and blood loss, and make the bird open to secondary infections.

Adhering to proper hygiene, biosecurity measures, and the use of the antibiotic Q-cox is very effective in the prevention and control of coccidiosis and can assist in managing these infections Spotting blood in poultry droppings is a symptom that requires swift attention. Q-Cox also helps with preventing secondary infections and may treat other co infections.

Regular monitoring, preventive measures, and a comprehensive healthcare strategy involving high-quality products like Q-Cox from Allwright investment limited , which can significantly contribute to maintaining the health and well-being of your poultry flock.

Q-cox is very effective in preventing and controlling coccidiosis, reducing production losses, and promoting overall bird health, which makes it a valuable asset for poultry farms.

Why Do Poultry Birds Die Suddenly?

Have you ever wondered why healthy birds in your flock suddenly face mysterious deaths? This is as a result of the Fatty Liver Haemorrhagic Syndrome (F.L.H.S). Fatty Liver Haemorrhagic Syndrome is a serious challenge for birds that need a lot of energy from feed , especially those stuck in cages with limited exercise.

One difficulty in dealing with F.L.H.S is the mistake of worsening of this condition through unnecessary treatments. Farmers make matters worse by giving birds antibiotics when they are not meant to , It is very much important to carry out accurate checkup and know the correct treatments to avoid unnecessary issues .

It has been shown that female birds with a lot of energy , limited-exercise settings are particularly at risk , leading to high estrogen levels and fat buildup in the liver which is a sign of F.L.H.S. It is very important to look out for symptoms like pale combs, loss of appetite, overweight in poultry birds.

An effective way of handling F.L.H.S involves managing feed intake, regulating body weight for a positive energy balance, and maintaining the balance of energy and fat in the diet. This approach helps to reduce the effect of F.L.H.S and create a healthier environment for your poultry.

If your farm has a history of Fatty Liver Haemorrhagic Syndrome,it is very important to consider including a multivitamin and liver tonic in your bird’s diets called Liverboost Pro . Liverboost Pro, It is known to be very effective in handling F.L.H.S, it not only corrects but also prevents liver damage, improve liver function and also has other benefits that leads to improved farm production.

The Game Changer Solution Every Cow Farmer Needs

Did you know that the well-being of your production cows is directly tied to their ability to stand strong after giving birth?

Milking fever is when a cow get weak and can't stand up well, especially after having a calf. Cows with milking fever often have a tough time giving birth, and this can stress out the newborn calf. This issue doesn't just affect the mother; it can also impact the newborn cow's health.

To help cows with milking fever, it's crucial to notice the signs early. This includes them not wanting to eat, having a lower body temperature, having trouble peeing, and seeming tired all the time. The main problem causing this is not getting enough calcium, so quick treatment is super important for a fast recovery.

Low calcium doesn't just cause milking fever; it can also make birthing harder (called dystocia). It might lead to other problems like mastitis, keeping the afterbirth, and the stomach getting out of place. To avoid these issues, it's essential to act early, especially when cows are close to giving birth.

Calphosol Plus is   a mix of vitamins and minerals made to tackle these  issues in cows, sheep, and goats. It is a necessity for cows, helping them during birth, making more milk, and preventing birthing problems.

Calphosol Plus contains calcium, iron, magnesium, vitamin D3, and vitamin B12. These nutrients help with bones, muscles, energy, and keeping everything in balance. It's like a power-up for your cows.

When it comes to keeping your herd healthy, it's way better to stop problems before they start. Choosing Calphosol Plus for your pregnant cows doesn't just make them ready for birth but sets the stage for a bunch of milk and healthy calves .   Your cows are important and it is essential give them the protection they need with Calphosol Plus.

Unlocking the Hot Season Secrets Every Poultry Farmer Must Know This Festive Season

1️⃣🅾️Ten (10) "Hot Season" facts every poultry farmer should watch out for.

The end of year period is a "cash in" period for most farmers.
Usually, a typical ‘harvest mind set’ prevents us from taking a closer look at subtle losses associated with productivity losses and minor errors.

The following are just a few of them:

  1. Decreased feed intake: This is usually to prevent excess heat generation. It's a natural tendency and could be made worse by factors such as subtle underlying diseases or overcrowding.
  2. Decreased immunity and a higher susceptibility to infections. Research has shown that birds are prone to sepsis (systemic/blood infections) due to micro gut leakages
  3. Decreased egg production:
Relative humidity is usually neglected by any farmers.
It is instructive to note the relationship between water intake, pen house temperature, and relative humidity!
  4. Decreased egg sizes. Usually, due to excessive body water losses and stress. We all know that eggs contain a lot of water!
  5. Increased egg breakage/cracks.
    These could be:
▪︎ Gross cracks : due to heat stress, overcrowding, excess salt levels in feed, vitamin D, and calcium deficiency.

Calcium deficiency tendencies can easily be combated with blends of calcium gluconate/Pantothenate, phosphorus, vitamin A, and D and biotin ( DICALMAX and Calphosol are recommended complete blend in such cases).
▪︎ Pin hole cracks : common with mechanical damage or in old hens.
▪︎ Micro cracks : Usually due to collision with other eggs and hard surfaces.

  1. A lot of bird deaths are caused by gut bacterial dys-biosis. This means that proper gut health was not established earlier.
  2. Control of pen house moisture prevents bacterial overload.
  3. Optimum levels of moisture can easily be achieved by getting a thermohygrometer (a thermometer with a humidity monitor).
  4. Mortalities due to heat stress should be monitored by heat management strategies.
  5. Electrolyte replacement is key to maximum productivity during this period. It is recommended to use extra-packed multivitamins with a complete arsenal of vitamins A, B, C, Folic Acid, Biotin and Amino acids ( MAXI-BOOST and Vitamino Conc Oral have demonstrated good field results in Poultry).

Questions : Poultry FAQS – Answers to Commonly Asked Questions

*Poultry FAQ.*

 #Dr. Rex

Series1: Episode B

 ~FAQ 2

Client X~ :

 _Dear doctor,

 *This is an emergency.*

I have a flock of broilers that had been doing very well until this happened.

I'm quite experienced with birds but this caught me off guard.

Every thing had been done right on The farm, until last weekend. The flock suddenly started showing signs of mild sickness, and I started antibiotics.

Unfortunately, it has hit hard and now I'm loosing birds by the hour. The dropping have shown that they are loosing a lot of blood .

I started using diclazuril, but it seems to worsen.

What should i do? I need help fast!

Answer: The first principle when dealing with diseases in poultry is: *drugs help, but only when they are used right.*

After a quick inspection, we realised that this was a peculiar case. It was frustrating for  everyone involved due to the fact that the carcasses loose condition very fast, and you might not get your answers if you check the organs after an hour.

By the time the disease agent responsible was spreading, the antibiotics killed a lot of beneficial protective bacteria in the intestines and allowed  'opportunist' bacteria to take over.

Then they started to worsen the situation.

Then the main cause of the problem ( __Eimeria_ ) took over. And everything went really bad.

The subtle signs, such as early  reduced weight gain, loss of skin pigmentation, diarrhoea, were missed!

By this time, a drug like diclazuril wouldn't help much.

Many farmers learn what coccidiosis looks like, but do not have details related to it, such as " *dropping score* ".

This makes it difficult to be rational about their descriptions.

Most feed preparations come with a dose of anti-coccidials, but also these organisms have proven to be highly resistant to many drugs (especially those they've been used to over time).

*Coxclin* is  a perfect blend for this situation. It contains a blend of *Sulphaquinoxalin* ( Sulfaclozine), *Diaverdin* and *Vitamin-K* .

The advantage of this combination is that, apart from treating coccidiosis, its has proven activity *against  colibacilosis, and pasturella* (agent which causes fowl cholera in birds).

These are the disease agents that make the disease terrible to manage (Let's just say they work together to make sure you don't make your profit).

This drug combination would have taken care of the mixed ' _Eimerial_ ' strains, and keep the bacteria in check.

Both Intestinal and Caecal forms of the disease would be taken care of.

Added to this, it prevents blood loss (due to Vitamin-K).

Then, we introduce electrolytes ( *VitamnoConcOral or Maxiboost* ) and your birds would bounce back.

Thank you for your time.

I hope we find these tips helpful.

You've been awesome, and I've been Dr. Rex.

Catch you on the next one.
